Coolhaus - Farmer's Market Strawberry Cheesecake

Farmer's Market Strawberry Cheesecake - Mascarpone & Cream Cheese Ice Cream, Fresh Strawberry Swirl, Graham Cheesecake Bites
Today we move on to the fourth pint in my recent shipment from the Culver City-based Coolhaus brand.  It is called Farmer's Market Strawberry Cheesecake.  Strawberry is always a fun flavor and as has been mentioned in previous reviews, the flavor of strawberry is very strong and sweet so it is often blended with something to dull it a bit to make it more palatable.  We've seen both mascarpone and cheesecake (twice) used for this purpose before, but Coolhaus often has a unique take, so I am looking forward to this.

Removing the lid shows the foil used to seal the pint.  This message is even cheekier than usual.

I don't know how they keep managing to, um, top themselves in this regard.  Well, onto the ice cream.  Ripping off the foil, shows an absolutely beautiful display on the top of the pint.  The strawberry swirl is bright red and swirl shaped, the cheesecake bites are lozenge-shaped and clustered in the center.  This is one of the best looking pint tops that I've ever had.  This is simply a work of art.  Digging in, the strawberry swirl is sweet and syrupy.    It didn't seem like it was from a 'farmer's market', though.  It was a bit too red for that.  It reminds me more of the types of strawberry syrup that an old-fashioned ice cream shop would put on its sundaes and banana splits.  I like that type of strawberry sauce, but it is different from what I imagined given the name of the flavor.  The cheesecake bits had a mild graham flavor and were fun to chew on.  The mascarpone base was also subtly done.  The specific flavor of mascarpone was not very intense but it does a good job of blending with the strawberry swirl.

This is a fun pint of ice cream.  Although I have issues with the name of the flavor -- "farmer's market" makes me think natural and organic while this swirl is processed and boosted with artificial color -- it doesn't mean I didn't enjoy this pint for what it was.  This is great-looking ice cream which is reminiscent of old-fashioned strawberry sundaes and the cheesecake bites were fun too.
