Häagen-Dazs - Honey Salted Caramel Almond

Honey Salted Caramel Almond - Honey Ice Cream with Swirls of Salted Caramel and Toasted Almonds
I have recently reviewed the three new "TRIO" flavors that Häagen-Dazs introduced for 2018.  Today, we look at the first of the new pints from what they are calling the "Decadent Collection".  This is called Honey Salted Caramel Almond.  Why "decadent"?  I looked for an explanation and could not find one.  The nutritional information lists the flavor as having 280 calories per quarter pint.  That's a bit on the high side, but some of their older flavors have more.  Perhaps they are trying to go against the latest low-calorie ice cream craze.  Anyhow, this particular flavor has honey, caramel and almond.  Those are flavors that are known to work well together.  I am anxious to dig in.

Removing the lid shows that the honey base is a golden color.  Some of the caramel swirl is visible right away as well.  With the first spoonful, the honey flavor is quite sweet, but not in a candied way.  I can tell that the sweetness comes from the honey and not the sugar.  The caramel swirls here are quite substantial and delicious.  The swirl seems to half-blend with the base at times.  There are plenty of crunchy almonds in the mix as well.  Yum.

I really liked this pint.  There have been a few new honey-based flavors of late which I welcome because I like the flavor and feel like it has been underutilized.  This is almost the same ingredient combination that a recent Talenti pint has used (Talenti used almond butter instead of almonds).  I liked this Häagen-Dazs pint better because there was more caramel and I liked crunching on the almonds.  If you like honey & caramel, check this pint out.
